Hey, Hello, Welcome. Its been well over a month since I even attempted to do anything blog related. I have a habit of going hard at something and then completely dying in the arse and it’s very obvious when you look at the way I post. Some months I post several times a week, others I only post once and December, well that was the month of silence. I didn’t even read a book in December. I had a dnf but that is it. I was all kinds of busy in December, it was chaos. The erratic posting probably won’t change in 2020.
My productivity levels are often tied to my mental health, which cycles throughout the year. When I’m hyper focused I can smash through posts, but once my brain starts to fog up, I struggle to push through that and that is when I divert my attention to real life stuff. My mental health has definitely done it’s best to kick my ass this past year, and I’ve had months of bouncing of the walls and weeks where I felt like I was suffocating and I didn’t know how to keep functioning. But I have a fantastic support network, a wonderful psychologist, a family that loves me and a husband who can let me hide when needed, hug me when needed and remind me to put the phone down and pay attention to my kids when needed. This isn’t a woe is me post, I don’t expect or need sympathy, it is exactly what the title suggests, a review of my year. All of my year. Continue reading “My 2019 in review”

February wrap up
Books, movies and more reality tv than I should admit.
February, the runt of the months.
I read a mixed bag of books this month, some were great, some were shit and others were ok. I watched some tv and headed to the movies for Valentines Day. Lets look at the books.
Riverkeep by Martin Stewart – I didn’t love it. My ‘starts as a review, but turned into a rant’ is up, if you want more info click the link. 2 stars Continue reading “February wrap up”
January wrap up.
My month of entertainment
I started this month with the best of intentions, I was going to knock out a heap of books from my shelves, get some challenge books ticked off and you know, just be awesome at posting, taking bookish photos for Insta and as it’s School holidays here, so enjoy some time with the kiddies.
Within the first week I pretty much killed my chance of hitting my tbr goals for the year. I finally worked up the courage to sign up for NetGalley and whats even more crazy is that I have been accepted for over 10 books. Um, not going to lie, this was such a bloody thrill. I’ve been wanting to do it since I first heard of it several years ago and I finally did it. I really didn’t think I had a hope, lets face it, my audience isn’t huge, but by some miracle I’m in and its all looking good…. Just not for all the unread books on my shelves. First blog post
Why a blog?
Reviews, book hauls, tags, wrap ups, TV, movies, my ridiculous number of reading challenges, this blog is my place to cover it all. I’m definitely coming to the blogging game incredibly late, but anxiety is a bitch, zero confidence is a mole and my lack of faith in myself means that it has literally taken me years to work up the courage to do this. I’m not a writer, i’m a mum who walks dogs for a living, why would anyone care what i thought? Then it hit me, this blog isn’t for everyone else, it’s for me. It’s another way to explore my love of books and pop culture, it’s a way for me to step outside my itty bitty comfort zone, it’s another way to bring joy into my life.
