Did someone say Wyrd and Wonder?

It’s time for my favourite event of the year. WYRD AND WONDER!!!!! The entire month of May raving about all things fantasy. Every type of fantasy. High, low, epic, magical realism, grimdark, urban, paranormal… All of it.

I think the big challenge this year will actually be producing reviews for what I’ve read and what I will be reading. I just counted and I have 15 partially written reviews that I could finish and post during May. All wonderful books, but I haven’t written a review in over a month, so you can see why I would be concerned about my ability to get shit done.

I do love an opportunity to shout about my favourite authors, so there is a good chance you have seen me mention these five before but I figured Self-published fantasy month was a great opportunity to do so again.

May Wrap-Up

Here we are at the end of the month. I’ve been traversing through the fantasy worlds and ignoring the reviewing part that comes with being a blogger. I got lost a couple of times, as even with a clear map, I get distracted by all things bright and shiny. A big thank you to our fearless leaders Imyrl, Lisa, and Jorie, I am already looking forward to next year.

How did I forget about this? I should hand my fantasy lover card back. A whole month dedicated to fantasy and I’m not prepared. Ok I can do this… I can rave about fantasy for a whole month.

This month I’m hoping to catch up on some arcs as I got approved for more than expected. I may have picked up a whole heap of fantasy lately and I’ve got more coming, so I’ll show those off in the coming days and fingers crossed I will get a couple of reviews up. I’m way behind.

The Absinthe Earl by Sharon Lynn Fisher

I always forget that I enjoy historical fiction, its not a genre I automatically gravitate towards. But when I saw The Absinthe Earl pop up on NetGally, the cover grabbed my attention and then the synopsis sucked me right in; A historical fantasy, set in Ireland in the 1800’s, full of mythology, faeries and romance. Yes please.

I went op shopping last weekend for the first time in what felt like forever and picked up a couple of books. I was lucky enough to be sent an arc by an author for review and I got approved for a book or two via NetGalley, one of which is the second book in a series, so I have to grab the first book in the next couple of days.
