Silverlegs part 1- Seeds of Rage by Camilla Monk

“And it was done; I no longer had a face. I wasn’t Constanter; I was Silverlegs, and in that moment I felt like I could take on an entire army.”

SilverlegsA Roman style setting, vicious, well written battle scenes, epic sword fights. A female mc who refuses to be used and abused. Hell yes. Fantasy has been spoiling me lately with some fantastic books and Silverlegs by Camilla Monk is another top notch read. (How badass is the title and cover by the way!!) Meet me in the future: Stories by Kameron Hurley

Meet me in the future by Kameron HurleyElephants and Corpses was my very first introduction to Kameron Hurley’s writing several years back when Tor had it on their site. It was a first class story that made a lasting impression, yet its only in the last year that I have started buying and reading more of Hurley’s work. I sit back now and want to kick myself. So of course when I saw this on NetGalley I hit request as fast as I could and then put everything else on the backburner as soon as I was approved, even though I had a couple of months before it’s release day. Mid Year Freak Out Tag

I saw this over at Hobbleit’s page and decided I was jumping on the bandwagon. I haven’t done a tag for a while and figured this would be as good a time as any.

Best book you’ve read so far this year.
A Danger to herself and others by Alyssa B. Sheinmel – I love when books discuss mental health well and boy did this book deliver. (Review)

Best sequel you’ve read so far this year.
Conspiracy of Ravens by Lila Bowen

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.
Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.
Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff

Biggest disappointment.
Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton

Biggest surprise.
One Word Kill by Mark Lawrence – I knew it would be good, but I didn’t think it would work for me as well as his epic fantasy does. (Review)

Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)
That would be Ben Galley.

Newest favourite character.
Miss Quicksilver from The Absinthe Earl would have to be up there, as well as Task and Lesky from Heart of Stone.

Book that made you cry.
Heart of Stone by Ben Galley, to be honest there is probably more than that one, but it sprung to mind first. (Review)

Book that made you happy.
Hounded by Kevin Hearne. A fun beginning to a series.

Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year.
Puddin, I haven’t read the book but I absolutely adored the movie. I can’t think of any others so that will have to count.

Favourite review you’ve written this year.
My review for The God of Broken Things, it was such a great book that I loved singing it’s praises. (Review)

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
Monstress volume 1, 2, 3.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
This is a trick question, but I guess I’d like to make a decent dent in the self published fantasy sitting on my kindle. If I could get to at least five of them I would be happy.
