Well it’s a week or so later than I originally planned, but finally it’s here. My wrap up of 2020. Life wise all has been well here, where I live we have managed to avoid, for now, Covid affecting our lives too much. The kids had a couple of weeks off school and a lot of business was closed for a while. I was off work for six months, but a lot of other people were affected way more than us. My daughter and I have started volunteering at a wildlife hospital, my son has taken up a new sport and I’m looking forward to trying new things in 2021 (Well maybe saying that I’m looking forward to new things is a bit strong lol). I also fell in love with reading middle grade books and they kept me reading while I was teetering on the verge of a massive slump. Continue reading “Favourites of 2020”

The Lessons Never Learned by Rob J. Hayes

I have been trying to write this review for over a month. Not only have I been in the middle of a blogging lull, but I find it really hard to write reviews for books that are the second in a series. Add on loving it and I fold under the pressure. So on that note I’m going to push through my reviewer block and get the fangirling started. Oh and there will be spoilers for Along The Razor’s Edge, (review), I will do my best to keep them to a minimum.

Along The Razor’s Edge by Rob J. Hayes
When Rob Hayes puts the word out that he is looking for bloggers to review his new book, my automatic response is flailing, a giant yes please and hoping I can get my greedy hands on it. As you can tell I was successful, I have since read it and it was bloody brilliant.
“At just fifteen years old, I had fought in the greatest war mankind has ever known. I had been one of the Orran’s most powerful Sourcerers, celebrated by our allies and feared by our enemies. I had helped bring prosperity to my emperor’s lands, destruction to his foes. And now I was a prisoner, my power gone with my Sources. There was only one place the Terrelans would send a prisoner as valuable as I – the Pit.” Continue reading “Along The Razor’s Edge by Rob J. Hayes”
February Fun Times
Here we are, the kids go back to school this week, work has quietened down after the Christmas craziness and I have to do adult things like get my car serviced and all the after school activities are back on. I love having my kids home but little Sir spent more time playing Fortnite than he should have and as much as the family did lots of awesome things, I didn’t get to participate in all of it. I did get to see Dolittle today which I thought was brilliant. I laughed louder and more than anyone else in the cinema.
My reading plans Continue reading “February Fun Times”
Stacking The Shelves
A weekly post where I can gush about my new books? Yes please. Granted I definitely won’t have something to post every week, I’ll just do it as required. I will be including everything from my purchases, to NetGalley, gifts and books from authors.
For more information head over to Tynga’s reviews.
I was going so well. I had only spent $2.99 on books up until this last fortnight, then it all went out the window. I’ve probably only spent $50 or so now, but I requested a few from NetGalley and managed to grab an arc from a favourite author. Maybe next month I can keep it under $10, which is my goal.
