August TBR

I think it’s time I face reality, I’m in a massive blogging slump and I’m trying to pull myself out of a reading slump.

So this tbr is pure speculation, it’s just what I have sitting on my kindle.

One of these books is not like the others…

My Tentative July TBR

My romance binge is continuing this month and I’m making sure to cross a few more TikTok hyped books off my list. Yes that means I’m heading off-world for some blue alien sexy time. Not gonna lie, I’m kind of terrified about that one.

Once again, I’m taking full advantage of kindle unlimited, I’m hoping to limit my purchases to 4 books total for the month. I figure one book a week should be enough to scratch my shopaholic urges.

I’m very interested to see how far I make it through my tbr as I actually finished it last month. Have you read any of these?

WWW Wednesday

Today I have a super simple post to let the world know what I’m reading. Hosted by Taking on a World of Words, you answer 3 questions and hey presto, you are all done.

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

I have strayed from the fantasy path. I was doing so well at sticking to it, but I got all excited about my plans for next month on the blog and had to smash out a couple of quick romances. There wasn’t a vampire in sight. Because we are still in the midst of Wyrd and Wonder, I’m going to focus on the last fantasy books I have read. Continue reading “WWW Wednesday”

Did someone say Wyrd and Wonder?

It’s time for my favourite event of the year. WYRD AND WONDER!!!!! The entire month of May raving about all things fantasy. Every type of fantasy. High, low, epic, magical realism, grimdark, urban, paranormal… All of it.

I think the big challenge this year will actually be producing reviews for what I’ve read and what I will be reading. I just counted and I have 15 partially written reviews that I could finish and post during May. All wonderful books, but I haven’t written a review in over a month, so you can see why I would be concerned about my ability to get shit done. Continue reading “Did someone say Wyrd and Wonder?”

Looking ahead – 2021

New year means new books!! I thought I would have a look ahead and showcase a few 2021 releases that I’m super excited for. Continue reading “Looking ahead – 2021”

What’s on my TBR – NetGalley Edition

NetGalley, the light of my reading life and the bane of my reading existence. I was recently having a squizz through my NetGalley back list and to be honest it’s pretty depressing. Like many, I went hard early on, never expecting to be approved for anything and it got out of control. Then I went full ostrich, stuck my head in the sand and I’ve been ignoring a heap of them ever since.

If you think this is me finally ready to deal with my 2018 chaos, you would be wrong. I’ll reveal that shame in another post. (Maybe by then I’ll have made some headway through it.) This time I wanted to talk about the exciting reads I’ve got that are coming out in 2021. Continue reading “What’s on my TBR – NetGalley Edition”

Zero fantasy book haul

The fantasy genre is my go to, it’s my happy place, it’s comforting, exciting and magical. I spend 97.5% of my time there. But recently other books have been catching my eye. With bright, bold covers and a range of protaganists, I may be heading into a contemporary binge.

I wanted to share some of the books that have caught my attention over the last couple of months. (Chad if you are reading this, I’m writing this in October, they were all purchased before that). Continue reading “Zero fantasy book haul”

October plans

I have been avoiding making TBRs recently. They stopped working for me. I’m struggling with reading this year, so it’s just easier to read whatever happens to tickle my fancy at the time. But this month I wanted to get into the Halloween spirit (also something I have never really done before) and read something a little scary. I feel like I need to preface this with I’m a total sook and normally avoid anything I think will be scary and I did have to sleep with the light on once or twice while I was reading IT. Stacking The Shelves

A weekly post where I can brag about my new books? Yes please. Granted I definitely won’t have something to post every week, I’ll just do it as required. I will be including everything from my purchases, to NetGalley, gifts and books from authors. For more information head over to Tynga’s reviews.

May was a good month. I was inspired by Wyrd and Wonder and added to my fantasy collection a little. Continue reading “Stacking The Shelves”

The Olympic Games

Olympic Games Logo

In June I’m going to be participating in a reading challenge inspired by the Percy Jackson series. The Olympic Games is a fun way to come up with a TBR for the month and distract myself from all the reviews I have yet to write up. I have serious reviewers block and a serious backlog of reviews that need to be written up. Anyway, this challenge has been created by ISHI and if you click her name it will take you to her video. She is joined by a team of hosts and the challenge can take place across all platforms. The effort that has gone into the set up of this is amazing.

How does the challenge work? You take the quiz to determine your cabin and then follow the reading prompts for the god your representing. There are 5 prompts for each god and once those are completed you have the option of completing the advanced prompts.
