Mystery Blogger Award

I did a little googling and it seems the Mystery Blogger Award has been around for over 3 years and was created by www.okotoenigmasblog.com. They created the award because –

WHY DID I CREATE THE AWARD?
I created the award because there are a lot of amazing blogs out there that haven’t been discovered, yet. And, most of these blogs deserve recognition. For that reason, I decided to create my own award; and nominate people who can also nominate others; and so on. This is one of the best ways to create a friendly community and build a link between bloggers in the blogosphere; as everyone gets nominated and they too can spread the fun by nominating more people for the award.

Music Monday

It’s Monday, the start of another working week and to distract us from the humdrum of work I’m bringing you another song I love. This was started by the Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek make sure you check him out.

Some Aussie rock for your Monday. This is from their brand new album. I may be completely wrong, but I’m 99% sure one of my friends travelled with these guys back in the day.

Quick Fire Book Tag

1. E-Book or physical book?
At the moment I’m on an e-book binge, which has been inspired by the SPFBO5. I’m smashing through the self published books I picked up last year.

2. Paperback or hardback?
Paperback. Unless of course it’s a special edition, but I don’t often read those. I just like them because they are pretty and with certain authors I’m obsessive and must have everything.

A Danger to herself and others by Alyssa B. Sheinmel – I love when books discuss mental health well and boy did this book deliver. (Review)

Conspiracy of Ravens by Lila Bowen

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

Biggest disappointment.
Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton

Biggest surprise.
One Word Kill by Mark Lawrence – I knew it would be good, but I didn’t think it would work for me as well as his epic fantasy does. (Review)

Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)
That would be Ben Galley.

Newest favourite character.
Miss Quicksilver from The Absinthe Earl would have to be up there, as well as Task and Lesky from Heart of Stone.

Book that made you cry.
Heart of Stone by Ben Galley, to be honest there is probably more than that one, but it sprung to mind first. (Review)

Book that made you happy.
Hounded by Kevin Hearne. A fun beginning to a series.

Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year.
Puddin, I haven’t read the book but I absolutely adored the movie. I can’t think of any others so that will have to count.

Favourite review you’ve written this year.
My review for The God of Broken Things, it was such a great book that I loved singing it’s praises. (Review)

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
Monstress volume 1, 2, 3.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
This is a trick question, but I guess I’d like to make a decent dent in the self published fantasy sitting on my kindle. If I could get to at least five of them I would be happy.
