My Tentative July TBR

My romance binge is continuing this month and I’m making sure to cross a few more TikTok hyped books off my list. Yes that means I’m heading off-world for some blue alien sexy time. Not gonna lie, I’m kind of terrified about that one.

Once again, I’m taking full advantage of kindle unlimited, I’m hoping to limit my purchases to 4 books total for the month. I figure one book a week should be enough to scratch my shopaholic urges.

I’m very interested to see how far I make it through my tbr as I actually finished it last month. Have you read any of these?

WWW Wednesday

Today I have a super simple post to let the world know what I’m reading. Hosted by Taking on a World of Words, you answer 3 questions and hey presto, you are all done.

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

Guess who has a three month trial of kindle unlimited? ME, ME, ME!! I’m having fun with it.

I’ve been embracing the romance genre this month, but was missing fantasy, so I thought I would combine the two and give A Deal with the Elf King a go after seeing rave reviews and signing up to kindle unlimited. I’m halfway through as I write this and I haven’t decided if I’m going to finish it. I’m rather bored.

Recently Finished –

I completed my reread of Never Die and Pawns Gambit by Rob J. Hayes and they were both better the second time around. I have reviews up for them here and here, if you want to check those out. If you haven’t read anything by Hayes before and are not sure where to start, I would definitely suggest this series. The characters are delightful and surprising. He writes brilliant female characters and they are never included just to move the story along. They are the story. The mythology is intriguing and well written.

Reading Next –

Liar by Tate James is the next book on my tbr. It’s book 2 in the Madison Kate series. It turns out I’m quite the fan of the reverse harem sub genre.

Music Monday

It’s Monday, the start of another working week and to distract us from the humdrum of work I’m bringing you another song I love. This was started by the Drew over at The Tattooed Book Geek make sure you check him out.

This is one of my favourite opening scenes in a movie. Baby Groot is a mood.

I have strayed from the fantasy path. I was doing so well at sticking to it, but I got all excited about my plans for next month on the blog and had to smash out a couple of quick romances. There wasn’t a vampire in sight. Because we are still in the midst of Wyrd and Wonder, I’m going to focus on the last fantasy books I have read. Continue reading “WWW Wednesday”

Rare Vigilance by M.A. Grant

Rare Vigilance is book 1 in the Whitethorn Agency, a fast paced, m/m romance with vampires.

Rare Vigilance by MA GrantSynopsis – Former marine Atlas Kinkaid knows not to ask questions about the clients he protects at the behest of the elite Whitethorn security agency. Just like he doesn’t like anyone asking about his scars—scars left by a mysterious attack that haunts his every waking moment.
Consumed by the need to find out what happened to him, Atlas takes a job providing security to Cristian Slava, the indolent—and gorgeous—son of a notorious businessman. Cristian seems to be just another entitled client, but when nights at the club turn into secret meetings and people start going missing, Atlas realizes there’s more to Cristian—and to protecting him—than meets the eye. I’m still doing my very best to stick to fantasy books this month. I’m actually surprised by how well I’m doing. Yay for Wyrd and Wonder and it’s ability to help me focus. Continue reading “WWW Wednesday”

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

I enjoyed Trail of lightning and when I saw all the hype around Black Sun I purposely stayed away from reviews to avoid spoiling it for myself. I went in blind so to speak.

BEST DESCISION EVER

What an absolute delight. Reading Black Sun is an absolute experience. It has popped straight to the list of books I wish I could read again for the very first time.

The characters, the lore, the way the multiple pov’s weave in around each other. Each and every aspect of Black Sun is a masterclass on how to do epic fantasy.

Synopsis –

A god will return
When the earth and sky converge
Under the black sun

More fantasy themed music for the month of May. I 100% thought this song was sung by two women.

Favourite Fantasy Covers

A cover is an incredibly important part of a book. When browsing in a book store that is what grabs your attention. I’m a total cover whore and a gorgeous cover can make me buy the book without even reading what its about, so this month I wanted to show some of my absolute favourite fantasy covers a whole heap of love. These are all books I’ve read. I’m going to do a separate post for covers that make me want to buy some new books without looking at the synopsis.

City of Kings by Rob J Hayes and Pawn’s Gambit by Rob J Hayes – Cover Art by Felix Ortiz and Cover Design by STK Kreations

Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston – Cover Art by Brittany Jackson Cover Design by Matt Jones.

The Ship of Shadows by Maria Kuzniar – Cover Art by Karl James Mountford

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse  and  Touch of Iron by Timandra Whitecastle

The Absinthe Earl by Sharon Lynn Fisher and Fighting Destiny by Amelia Hutchins

I have tried to find the cover artists and designers, but couldn’t find a few. If you happen to know who they are or I’ve made a mistake, please let me know because I would love to link them.

Which of these covers is your favourite? Do you have an all time favourite cover as well?
