Recent NetGalley Additions

Should I be requesting more books from NetGalley… No. Do I anyway… Yes. Last I checked my % was at 52, so I never expect to get accepted, but I love it when it happens.

The Rush's Edge by Ginger SmithThe Rush’s Edge by Ginger Smith – I saw the author talking about this one on Twitter and decided it was right up my alley, plus it’s published by Angry Robot, one of my favourite publishers. Also it’s release will coincide with Sci-Fi Month.

Synopsis – With the help of his commanding officer, a genetically engineered ex-soldier fights back against the government that created him and others like him to be expendable slaves.

Release date – 10th November 2020

Melody Finch by Ian B. BoydMelody Finch by Ian Boyd and Gary Luck – I love a middle grade read, and this one is not only set in Australia it talks about the very real issues we are having with the climate.

Synopsis – Melody Finch is a story about the hardships of drought in Australia’s Murray Darling Basin, as seen through the eyes of its native wildlife.

Release date – 9th October 2020

The Edge of Elsewhere by Sam SteaThe Edge of Elsewhere by Sam Stea – A cli-fi, yes thank you. This one is self-published, always a big selling point for me and I think their is time travel in there.

Synopsis – It is the year 2079. Fourteen-year-old Abbey Lane dreams in colors that don’t exist anymore. Her life is a drudging routine of protecting her asthmatic genius older brother Paul from dust, and scrounging the ruin of the world with her best friend Max. But when they discover an old notebook in an abandoned university, possibilities open she never imagined.

Release date – 8th September 2020

Victories Greater Than Death by Charlie Jane AndersVictories Greater Than Death by Charlie Jane Anders – I really didn’t expect to get this one. Tor hates me usually, but this looked amazing, so I figured it was worth a try.

Synopsis – Tina has always known her destiny is outside the norm—after all, she is the human clone of the most brilliant alien commander in all the galaxies (even if the rest of the world is still deciding whether aliens exist). But she is tired of waiting for her life to begin.
And then it does—and maybe Tina should have been more prepared. At least she has a crew around her that she can trust—and her best friend at her side. Now, they just have to save the world.

Release date – 13th April 2021
