This is my fist time participating and I’m excited. Doing long running types of readathons/challenges is always a risky bet for me. I hate feeling like I’m forced to read something, I’m a total mood reader. But this looks really cool and I hate to feel like I’ve missed out. This readathon is different to any I’ve done before.
If you would like to join in, all of the information can be found at Magical Readathon‘s Twitter page or if you like head straight to her video HERE. The amount of effort and detail that has been put into the month-long readathon is huge. Massive kudos to the organiser. She has even put together a career pamphlet, so instead of just aiming for a certain number of O.W.Ls, you can work towards a career. This ties in with her N.E.W.Ts readathon later on the year.
After perusing the booklet, I decided I would aim to become a Cursebreaker.
To pass I have to try for these six subjects.
Ancient Runes – Read a retelling
Bitter Greens is a spin on Rapunzel. It’s been sitting on my shelves for over two years, about time I get to it. At 576 pages it’s by far the longest on my tbr.
Arithmancy – Read a work by more than one author
I’ve recently started visiting the graphic novel/comic section of the bookstore and this gorgeous cover caught my attention. I adored the artwork and the story looks great.
Charms – Read an adult book
Aahh Hounded, I’ve wanted this book for so long, but it is near impossible to find it, in store. This will be my first read and I just know I’m going to love it.
Defence against the dark arts – Title that starts with R
Rapture is the final book in Kameron Hurley’s Bel Dame Apocrypha series. The world Hurley has created feels unlike anything I’ve read before and I look forward to seeing how it all plays out for Nyx
Potions – Read a sequel
I loved her first book, I just know Constance will back it up with another heartfelt read.
Transfiguration – Read a book with sprayed edges or a red cover
I was meant to read this before it came out. I obviously failed spectacularly at that. This time though it will be different. It totally works with my sci-fi kick. And it will help my NetGalley rating.
The readathon starts on April 1 and runs until April 30th.
Let me know if you are participating.
I saw this too and it looks really fun and cool. And wow did she put some effort into designing it!
