November wrap up

November was my blogs one year anniversary. I’m a little proud of myself. I’m still behind on reviews and inconsistent, but it’s still here. I’m still here. I haven’t let my self doubt get the better of me and deleted it. I’m still trying to be social and get better at writing reviews.

Talking about books I love and supporting books and authors, whether it be here, Twitter or Instagram has become one of my very favourite things to do. A couple of months ago I had people that I only knew online, tell me they purchased books because of my recommendations. It was the most amazing feeling. I’ve interacted with some of my very favourite authors and chatted with new to me authors. Plus I have had the pleasure of meeting some of my online book friends in real life and now we catch up every month or so. I’m living my book nerd dream, thanks to this blog. Oh and while it may not seem like a lot to others, I was pumped to get my 25 reviews badge from NetGalley.

Onto what I actually read in November. I started the month really strong and then it all went downhill.

Currently Reading and hoping I’ll finish this month.
Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence – I’m loving this book so far, but i can’t seem to bring myself to pick it up. I think it’s the whole, not wanting to wait for months for Holy Sister.
Outrun the Wind by Elizabeth Tammi – This actually came out last week I think, it’s a NetGalley, which I was enjoying but I can only read so much ya fantasy before I need a break.
Renegade by Mallory McCartney – This is a prequel of a book I haven’t read, I will finish it at some point.

I collected a few new books from various places this month. These are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

The Bastard From Fairyland was a SPFBO inspired purchase. I hadn’t even seen a review of it, I just saw it in a post from one of the judges, who was picking it up in November. (I can’t remember who sorry. Maybe Lynn). The synopsis captured my attention straight away.

I’m going to include it here –The world’s sea levels have risen and washed civilisation away. Survival is a constant compromise, made worse when the Fae invade; a cruel and sadistic race eager to turn humanity into slaves. Robin Goodfellow is an elite Fae warrior with a long life steeped in blood and his loyalty rewarded by betrayal. Now he lives among humans, growing bitter and lonely, and wants no part in the war. But Robin holds the key to victory for the Fae, the man who betrayed him demands his help and he’s brought Robin’s ex-lover along to ensure his cooperation. Trapped in the middle of the conflict and despised by both sides, Robin races across a flooded English landscape to rescue the two children who can help him make a difference. What he doesn’t know is that powerful members of the Fae are manipulating him to succumb to his psychotic alter-ego, Puck, who’s ready to cause even more bloodshed.

Finally, thanks to Twitter I made the most amazing discovery. Her name is Kaleena from Reader Voracious, she has a kick ass blog that you should checkout and guys, your not going to believe it, she also has a brilliant SPREADSHEET TEMPLATE pack for 2019; If you like to collect random information about what you are reading and  your blog, or keeping track of your arcs or even having a calendar so you can see your upcoming posts in a handy way, this magnificent package, that she has made available to everyone, is for you. I’m not going to lie, I fangirled so hard when I saw it and even more so when I realised it was so user friendly that even I can use it. There is a section for keeping track of new books, where you get them from, type and how much it cost. That section will hopefully hold me accountable.

That is my November. Now if anyone needs me I will be organising my arc info to put into my spreadsheet, like a greedy, obsessive Gollum.
